Dawson Hospitality Group strives to deliver refreshingly different accommodation and dining experiences across three venues in the Central Queensland region of Banana.
The roots of Dawson Hospitality Group trace back to the Banana Hotel Motel. Having proven itself as a diamond in the rough among Central Queensland hotels, we expanded in 2024 with the restoration of the historic Dululu Hotel and the acquisition of the much loved Hotel Theodore.
DULULU HOTEL
The restoration of the original Dululu Hotel has ignited unprecedented interest in the little town of Dululu. The venue’s architecture and design are a standout celebration of the trades and craftsmen who undertook this remarkable challenge. It honours its rich heritage while balancing modern luxury and ambiance.

Located at the crossroads of Central Queensland’s highways, the town of Dululu is the turnstile connecting the Banana Shire bush to the city of Rockhampton. But Dululu isn’t just a route, it’s a destination.
Established in 1928, The Dululu Hotel has been the local hub for nearly a century. In a rural community, the ‘watering hole’ is more than just a pub. It’s the place for everyone and everything.
The Dululu Hotel has been a playgroup spot for mums sharing their hectic days and enjoying a night off from cooking; a mental health space for hardened blokes who rarely open up; and the backdrop for first baby steps, first dates, and first beers. The floorboards bear our stories, and in Dululu’s case, they also carry the scratches of kangaroos wrestled out of the bar and the quiet shuffling of a ghost or two.
We’re honoured to share the stories of our history and our people. Among the remarkable landscaping features in our garden, you’ll find tributes to local stories: our Indigenous heritage, the history of the rail siding on which Dululu was founded, the tragedy of Gulliver, and yarns that are sure to make you smile.
We embrace Central Queensland’s fabulous weather with an outdoor pool table and generous alfresco dining spaces. When it comes to footy and Foxtel on the deck, bigger is better, and we’ve got it covered: all 100 inches of it!
